Gonin Byakusho Ike Shoten
A historic candy shop known for its signature sweet potato parfait.
Gonin Byakusho Ike Shoten is one of the five traditional candy makers authorized to sell Kamiyo Ame within the grounds of Kotohira-gu Shrine.
With a history spanning nearly 780 years, it is a true local institution.
In August 2021, the shop near the Omotesando stone steps was renovated, introducing a stand offering sweets and drinks made with their signature candies.
The highlight is the “Candy Shop Sweet Potato Parfait” (¥550):
warm homemade sweet potato made with Naruto Kintoki, topped with milk soft-serve ice cream, ginger-flavored candy syrup, and delicate candy decorations.
The contrast of warm and cold textures has made it so popular that it evolved from a seasonal item into a year-round favorite.
Apple candies, colorful lollipop-style bekko ame, and original souvenir items created in collaboration with designers are also available—perfect for sweet treats and souvenir shopping.
